    Don't have a music background or know how to read music yet? 
    No worries—we’ll guide you step by step, with bonus materials to help you learn music reading along the way.

  • Harp Experience

    Never played the harp before? That’s no problem! We’ll guide you from the basics, including an introduction to the harp, and help you every step of the way.

  • Large (or Fancy) Harp

    If you already have a big floor-length harp or even a pedal harp, that's great! But don’t worry if your harp is as small as 19 strings with no levers—you can still join this course. All materials and music are designed so you can start your harp journey without a big investment. As you progress, you'll find two versions of the music: one for smaller harps (like 19 strings) and one for slightly larger beginner harps (starting with base C).

By the end of this course
 you will be able to...

  • play the harp beyond beginner level

    You will be learning from the very basics of the harp to beyond Level 1, equivalent to ABRSM Grade 1. There are about 40 exercises and pieces that were arranged and composed for the course.

  • Understand basic music theory

    Even if you're new to music, we’ll support you in understanding the basics of music language throughout the course, with additional learning materials to help you along the way.

  • Feel confident and enjoy playing the harp

    Complete small techniques, exercises, and pieces each week to build your skills, and soon you'll feel confident and enjoy playing the harp.

In each week, you will learn new concepts, techniques and new pieces with our guided video lessons.

In each lesson, there are three key steps (Harpitree method):

  • Grounding (learning)

    This is your grounding stage, where you'll prepare and solidify your foundation with the introduction of new concepts, music theory, and techniques.

  • Growing (practise)

    In this stage, you'll practice new techniques through exercises, enhancing your skills and fully absorbing the new concepts.

  • Glowing (play)

    Let your new techniques shine through by playing new music pieces, showcasing your skills and allowing your talent to glow!

I have never learned the music before, but I love the harp. Can I join?

The course was designed for someone like you, who wishes to explore the harp with little to no music knowledge. During the course, we will help you not only learn how to play the harp but also become confident in reading and understanding music

What should I prepare before enrolling the course?

  • A harp (small as 19st to bigger one): The course does not require a harp with levers or pedals, but you can invest on the higher spec harps if you wish to learn for the long term. More strings are better, with fully levered harp.
  • Device; computer, laptop, tablet or a phone
  • Music Stand: It is always handy to have one! Highly recommended. 
  • Tuner: You can get a chromatic tuner (either clip type or bigger one), or download a tuner app on your phone.
  • Printed course material (recommended)

What kind of harp should I get?

The course requires a minimal spec of the harp - small as 19string harp such as waring harp, or harpsicle-harp 26st. However, if you wish to invest for a longterm, you can get floor length harp and fully levered harps. You can order harps from our website (deliver to you directly from the manufacturer). It could be worth to start out with a rental harp from your local harp suppliers/tutors.

Can I interact with the instructor or other students during the course?

Yes, there will be monthly Q&A live group call with the instructor, as well as complementary 30m private zoom consultation session, and a facebook community where you can interact with other students, Harpistina and other tutors.
